The Youth Homelessness Workgroup meets to combine efforts and strategize to prevent and end Youth homelessness in the San Antonio / Bexar County region. The goals of the workgroup are:
1. Document progress towards achieving USICH Benchmarks: Continue compiling documentation of progress towards achieving USICH Benchmarks of Addressing and Ending Youth Homelessness by engaging with key stakeholders to upload pertinent reports to the dedicated shared folder in Google drive. At least 75% of youth workgroup participants who attend 75% or more of monthly meetings shall participate in recording documentation towards at least (1) Benchmark over the next (6) months.
2. Establish a collaborative forum for resource management: Increase the collaboration of youth-specific partner agencies and allocated resources by utilizing a common platform for information sharing and referral process, such as HIPPA Bridge or Mobile Cause. Ensure to disseminate information compiled through this platform with general service providers (not youth-specific) in an annual resource guide. Members of the Youth Workgroup will evaluate the information provided for the annual resource guide and edit for content at a minimum of (1) month prior to the publication of the annual resource guide.
3. Assess reporting tools for vacant beds: Determine the capacity for developing a tool which will accurately reflect open beds (vacancies) in youth-specific shelter and PH destinations by assessing reporting mechanisms that are available in HMIS, and reviewing at least (3) alternate software options which may have this capacity over the next (12) months.
4. Determine potential for data-sharing agreements with McKinney-Vento services in schools: Research data sharing options between homeless service providers and public school districts to compile an accurate representation of the homeless youth population by including those youth who have been reported as experiencing homelessness according to McKinney-Vento definitions. Implement a comprehensive data sharing agreement to cover the CoC geographical area in the next (12) months.
